A Friday night, spandex pants, cut off sleeves and 80’s throwback hair can mean only one thing, the party freight train known as STEEL PANTHER is back in town. Minneapolis was due for their return, and they brought much more than their usual party. The new Fillmore Minneapolis has been home to many shows since the reopening post pandemic. But I don’t think they have yet to have a band with the sexiness and swagger take the stage like the L.A. natives in STEEL PANTHER.

The band wasted no time getting the crowd right back into the swing of things when the opened with their classic hit “Eyes of the Panther” off of their debut album, “Feel the Steel.’’ The perfect way to reconnect with their fans and their music. Michael Starr, Satchel and new (kind of….sort of…well maybe) member, Rikki Thrash, drove the crowd wild as they moved into their synchronized high kicks when they broke into “Tomorrow Night” off the their sophomore album, Balls Out. STEEL PANTHER has been doing this now for 12+ years as a band, and it’s still as enjoyable as it was on day 1.

Sure, the show did seem a little different with the new addition, Rikki Thrash, on bass. But different in a good way. Rikki brings a new different sense of comedy, musical talent and a tad of stupidity to the band. Stepping in the place of a fan favorite is never easy, but if you hadn’t seen STEEL PANTHER previously, you would have thought Rikki Thrash had been a part of the band for years. Add in the tasty licks from Satchel on guitar, Stix Zindinia in back on drums and Michel Starr up front leading the charge, it’s a perfect recipe for 80’s metal glory.

Between their on stage banter and weaving their way through such classic hits like “Weenie Ride” “Community Property” and the always fist pumping “Death to All But Metal”…..STEEL PANTHER proved that no pandemic can slow them down. A fresh new line of merch with lines a majority of the show proved that it won’t slow down their fandom either. Not many bands can close a show out with a hit called “Glory Hole,” but when you can like STEEL PANTHER did this past Friday night, you know you have something special with your fans.
